Heap of Bernies for Christmas

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 3:10 PM
This is the first year in several that I will not be headed home to Wikwemikong for Christmas. I was a little concerned for myself at first. But, all is not lost. My California Family that I spend every Thanksgiving with, will be home and I'll be traveling up there tomorrow to spend it with them.

Additionally, a good friend of mine that recently moved out to San Diego (chasing after a girl!), David Bernie, will be staying with me over the next several days. I feel pretty lucky to have my Cali Fam to spend Christmas with in the redwood-filled Russian River Valley. It's a family holiday for me, and I need that family where I am. My mom was definitely happy to hear that I was going to be in good hands. We're all eating out at a fancy restaurant tomorrow night, then having a luscious feast on Friday (I'll be making a pumpkin pie from scratch). When we get back to the Bay, there will much audio excavation to be had at Amoeba Records, and just some good ole fashioned roaming of San Francisco.

I'm looking forward to more days off. Next week, I have the week off, but I gotta come into the office for two half days. Then, there will be Emo New Year's at my sweet pad, wherein we will serenade each other, call it friendship and a lust for life. Let me know if you wanna come to Emo New Year's. Guitars, fires, and wine will be had. Boisterous, mind-blowing parties are for everyone else, not us shoe-gazers. Enter the twee.

Great leaders seem to think alike.

Appleseed

With an AR15 or an M14, could you at least equal the accuracy of the Colonial marksmen with their flintlock rifles? If not, I would recommend Appleseed.

Patched rifle bullets.

Ramming patched ball into the bore.
I should have a completely new series of figure photos in about a month.

The Gunpal.net difference

  • Dec. 22nd, 2009 at 1:11 AM

Gunpal is owned by the same people who host The High Road forum, Armed Polite Society and A Human Right free of charge. They are definitely pro-RKBA. On the penny-pinching side, they charge a little less for transactions than Paypal does. If you would like to promote them, feel free to copy these graphics or link directly to them.

Learning to work quickly

The concept and the photos were developed over just a couple of hours. This mock up is one of about twenty concepts I came up with.

The final version of the ad would obviously have the company web site address, logo and other information. At this time, I am mostly interested in rapid development of concepts.

I went into the parlor recommended by a friend who has a full back tattoo and sleeve from the place in North Oakland to talk about it, you know, like a preemptive meeting or something to discuss it so that it wasn't a later-to-be-regretted impulse. They had an opening. My heartrate went into overdrive, but as luck would have it, a friend of mine from the Sacramento league (Sacred City) was in town to visit the artist who did this for me. I didn't have to desperately phone any of my friends who live in the neighborhood to hold my hand for me during the process. She helped try to calm me down. My anxiety went into hyperdrive and so, I immediately ran into the bathroom and popped two Xanax, stupidly thinking one wasn't going to help.

After a few minutes, I realized the process had nothing on Brazilian waxes and watched the hipster kid in the corner squirm and make faces over the work being done on his meaty shoulder. WIMP! Twenty minutes later, it was over. I walked across the street into the White Horse Inn, ordered a pear cider (so femme!), hopped on the bus, and the triple crash hit me like a ton of bricks. I passed out, missing my stop home by a few stops. It was worth it.

5.7x28, 40 grain

22WMR, 40 and 45 grain

5.7x28 27-grain lead-free load penetrated only about 7" and the bullet showed no deformation at all. It did deflect nearly 3" to the side, so a properly aimed shot would always miss the intended target.
